Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival had a stunning centrepeice this year, a portable 360 degree cinema which is "set to turn heads at the 2012 Olympics" according to Festival Organisers.

The ICCI 360 works with a special projector which splits the film into various streams of light which then link to make a 360 degree viewing experience in a specially designed 9 metre tent. Visitors to the Digital Arts Festival was at the Haskins Retail Centre was on view totally immersive films in the tent complete with surround sound.
Interested artists were shown how to adapt their work for the 360 environment - and the fruits of their labors could even be included in the Weymouth 2012 Olympics event!
Plymouth University, who have developed the project with partners Igloo Vision, will be displaying work made for the ICCI 360 at Weymouth during its celebrations around the 2012 Olympics, where the town will host sailing events.
The Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival - now in its third year - brings together up-and-coming and established digital artists from the South West, allowing them the chance to exhibit their work and meet and learn from industry experts in a series of free talks and workshops.
