Shepton Mallet was invaided by Stormtroopers and Darth Vader today

No21 Vintage & Interiors had a scary visit from a Stormtrooper
and Darth Vader confronted a member of the public (guess who?)
Darth Vader greeted the earthlings but Princess Lea looked concerned
Not to worry, our new Town Crier, Andy was there to lead the yearly procession
The Stormtroopers joined in the march from Market Place
and the band played
They paraded through the town of Shepton Mallet to the Colett Park Festival.

Collett Park Festival today!

The Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival 2012

Photographers, film-makers, multi-media - professional and aspiring artists,
its time to get creative again! ....from ages under 12 to 18+

2012 competition theme:

Last year when we interviewed David Sproxton CBE he told us:

"Surround yourself with people who are better at doing stuff than you are;
play to your strengths and let other people tackle your weak areas.
Film-making is a team game with many specialist skills."

David's thoughts have inspired the 2012 showcase competition theme/criteria -
which is "collaboration and innovation"
- so playing to your strengths and working with others
who can add something more is what we want to encourage
when you create your work for our competition showcase.

Mid Somerset Show today (Shepton Show)

A selection of photos from the show today, Sunday 19th August 2012
This year it was difficult taking photos there were crowds of people on a humid warm day.
I'm sure the footfall had increased this year.
I arrived early, it was muddy on the paths but drying out, the sun shone in the afternoon
County living themed stalls.
Organic, fresh and hand-crafted
Bread & Cheese
Continental foods mix with local
Traditional brands of cider featured at the show, including the new Pilton Cider.
Traditional country craftsmanship
Wood turning, thatching, spinning
Birds of Prey demonstrations
Children participated  as the beautiful white barn owl flew silently across their heads
The crowds increased throughout the day
The horses paraded
The sheep and the children took centre stage

The prize winning sheep at the end of the show.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing a glimpse of the yearly Mid Somerset Show.
