Shepton now has a regular Sunday Market!

Every third Sunday in the month, until further notice, we now have a Sunday Market in Shepton! Yesterday, I went to the first one, which had at least 60 stalls.  There was food, bric-a-brac, vintage, crafts and lots more.  In addition, many of the shops in Town Street, and the bottom of the High Street were open, including the one I am involved with - the One Craft Gallery.  It was so good to see Shepton full of people, having a great time, even though the weather wasn't great!  Let's hope it goes from strength to strength...

New Market for Shepton Mallet

Last Sunday, Shepton was teeming with people at a new market taking place around the Market Place.  Named as a Christmas Special, it was organised by Helen Reader, who hopes that a Sunday market, once a month, will become a regular event.

It was opened by the Town Crier and there was a large variety of stalls, including food, crafts, flowers, gifts, fashion etc. Many of the shops in the High Street and Town Street were also open, including the One Craft Gallery, which I am involved with.  I was serving in the shop and it was wonderful to see so many people coming in and buying!

We were lucky that the weather stayed fine and there was such a warm and friendly atmosphere - it was a great success and a  fantastic start to the Christmas festivities...

Friday Flea and Harvest Fayre.

The windy weather hit us on Friday with a number of stall holders unwilling to brave the colder climate, but it didn't dampen the spirits on the day.
Here are some photos captured at the Friday Flea and Harvest Fayre.

Robert Stonor local resident and owner of the classic cars 1968 Triumph Spitfire Mk3 sports car - , 1296cc OHV engine, colour: Royal Blue and 1936 BSA Scout Fixed Head Coupe, Series4 - front-wheel drive, 4cylinder sidevalve 1204cc engine
A special treat, 'turning back time' came from the arrival of two gorgeous classic cars
from Robert Stonor and music from guitarist and singer Paul Kirtley, contributing to a small, atmospheric market.

SHOP WATCH Pretty Shops in the Market Place

It was a lovely blue sky today, Easter Sunday.
This is the view of the Market Cross from our new shop at 12 Market Place, No21 Vintage & Interiors

The windows are so large there's lots of reflection, but its great for dressing.

We haven't painted the shop yet at 12 Market Place, weather permitting, but have taken down the Pickwicks cafe sign

We are so lucky to join some pretty shops in and around the Market Place. Our neighbours,
One Craft Art Galley have been in the town for at least 10 years

Nostalgia at No1 has been in Market Place for 3 years and will soon feature in Pearl Lowe's new book. I choose a picture to show Nicki's shop in the Summer
....I so wish we had Alfresco dining in the Square!

Somerset Antiques and Interiors, (originally Wells Emporium) have had two very good years at their new location in High St, near Market Place Shepton Mallet. We can see them from our shop...and I am sure a catch up over coffee on the bench will become a regular!

There are two shops vacant in a prime location in the Market Square. Join us in our quest to create a unique place to shop...... Independents who offer something different and make shopping
a enjoyable. Don't miss out on the fun!
Kilver Court Designer Village is just down the road, think of the future and the opportunities this brings.

  1. Hi B,
I love looking over and seeing your beautiful new shop on the other side of the Market Place now...Your window displays are most tempting! :)

Wouldn't it be fantastic to welcome new traders to the other two prime locations that you mentioned on the Market Place? It could be just what Shepton needs to move it forward this year...
