Commemorate the First World War

Talented, local ARTIST Martin Alford has painted 'The Last Tommy' 
a wonderful portrayal of Harry Patch 
- just in time for the First World War 100th anniversary.

Martin had recently painted 'The Parade' for the commemoration event in Shepton Mallet, following his love for painting horses. 
The original sold very quickly via Pauline at Parkway Antiques 
(framed prints are available).

Henry John Harry Patch (1898 – 2009), The Last Fighting Tommy was a British supercentenarian, the last surviving soldier known to have fought in the trenches of the First World War.

Many died for their country.....................
Never Forget - Commemoration of the beginning of

 World War 1 in Shepton Mallet
Starts at the Cenotaph at 11.am ends with a candle light service in the Parish Church 11.00pm 

To allow everyone to take part in the event, there will be free parking all day at the Commercial Road car park, Shepton Mallet Showground and Whitstone School Car Park.
