WELLS AND CASTLE CARY KICK OFF NATIONWIDE HIGH STREET E-VOLUTION Somerset towns pioneer MyHigh.St, a website designed for local retailers to fight back against out-of-town and online shops

PRESS RELEASE

Wells and Castle Cary shopkeepers are today spearheading the rollout of a national online shopping service that will revolutionise the High Street experience, give people more choice and flexibility, protect jobs and bring communities together.

More than 50 independent retailers across the two towns have signed up to MyHigh.St, Britain’s first online and mobile shopping destination tailor-made for local shops, to help them compete with nationwide chains, supermarkets and online retailers.

Aiming to save the region's ailing independent retailers and local high streets and which now has the support of regional MP Tessa Munt and well-known actor Kris Marshall from the TV programme My Family.

My High St. was founded by former Marks & Spencer executive Loaye Agabani and mobile internet entrepreneur David Warburton.

i-Crier's Proclamation

Oyez, Oyez, Hear Ye Hear Ye
I bid you welcome to beautiful Wells High Street,
a place since medieval times to visit, to browse and to meet.
Today is the day that this great High Street goes online
becoming the first in the world, I believe you will find.
A new High Street created of bits and of bytes
One that has its very own digital site.
A place full of local shops you know and you trust,
of gifts and goods for which some of you might lust.
Now you can search, browse and buy both night and day,
and have goods delivered the day after you pay.
But today is about more than me just being vocal -
it is about helping our local shops stay, local.
With new customers on foot and on line
With MyHigh everything will be fine.
It’s a new way forward and one of which we are proud,
so let’s celebrate the first High Street in the cloud.
