Title for BBC1 series released

The full title is: Turn Back Time: The High Street - 100 Years of British Life Through the Shop Window.

We’re a nation of shoppers. Even deep in recession, shopping is our favourite pastime. And while the internet, out-of-town malls and superstores sell us everything we need, nothing competes with the affection we feel for the great British High Street. Now, in Turn Back Time, the story of the High Street is brought to life. We’re taking one parade of shops – and five modern shopkeepers and their families – back to the 1870s, when the High Street was born. Then in six hugely entertaining hours of television, we’ll fast forward them through a century of change, right up to the modern era. The story of the rise and fall of the High Street is the story of all our daily lives – touching on the history of technology, family relationships, work, food, fashion and community. But what have we really lost and gained along the way?

November seemed such a long way off when the BBC were filming - and here we are, almost there. So looking forward to the series and the book.
